Manuel Oliver 🧡 🕯️

“We Demand” is a mural painted in honor of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victim Joaquin Oliver. “We need to fight gun violence and prevent other families from going through what we went through,” said Manuel, his father, at the unveiling in July 2018. The mural’s call to action, “We demand change through voting,” is depicted above past, present and future leaders of social justice: Abraham Lincoln, Jimmi Hendrix, Muhammad Ali, Emma Gonzales and Joaquin. Manuel paints murals nationwide with his organization, Change the Ref, to raise awareness about gun violence and to create a permanent voice for his son.
