Lynn Peterfreund

My drawings, done everyday since 2012, reflect whatever is going on, whatever feels most important or stands out for that day. The overwhelming sadness of unjust killings, by anyone but especially the police, bring horror, frustration and anger along with the sense of loss. The hope I feel is that by honoring each person, we will address the reality of the nation’s gun violence and be less able to dismiss a killing as a “number.” When I draw a person’s face, I feel their essence and it’s what I can do to offer them the dignity of recognition.
