Jotham Stavely

For the first several months I was uneasy about leaving my family and stopped visiting my studio. I resumed in June. I use toys I have accumulated as models for drawing. In this recent work, I decided to create a fuller stage and added a wrestling ring. Human cultures have always had traditions to recognize feelings of conflict. Modern society is based on destruction of the past. I try to find meaning in plastic consumer totems of masculinity to help me understand my anxiety and worries about my family in a world going insane.
