Boudoir Silhouettes
Opposites attract: Trisha Moody-Bourbeau and Arnold Skolnick excel in very different media - the softness and suggestive touch of white chalk, the twisted and welded metal elements – yet they both express a similar evocative sensuality. They come together beautifully in this exhibit at the Elusie Gallery, which is a prefect antidote to the winter blues. Join us for the Artists Reception Saturday February 9 between 5 and 8pm. Love thy Beautiful Neighbors
February has typically been the month for lovers at the Elusie Gallery. But this year we find it difficult to celebrate love when intolerance and discrimination seem to be the new normal, and the basic right to love and be loved is being taken away from so many, whether it is the mass incarceration of children at the southern border or the wave of new anti-LGBTQ legislation being passed or considered in many parts of the country. Because we should…

MY WORLD
Pastel Paintings by Dallas Looman. Dallas Looman was drawn to painting at a very young age, first as a different form of communication, one he felt more comfortable with. As an autistic child going through school, he would draw pictures to share what had happened at school with his mom. But that way of communicating soon became an artistic passion, drawn by the creative process and discovering his fluency with the pastel media. In 2013, one of his pieces was…

Discovering Path – Paintings by Karen Iglehart
Discovering Path opens with Artwalk and runs through October 29. The paintings in this exhibit represent a process of exploring form and seeing where it might go. I started at the beginning of Covid with two triangles seeming to attempt a connection in open space , and eventually arrived at the more literal Path series. Where are we going? There are no markers and no end in sight. On the canvas and in the outer world. These ideas are related…

I haven’t flipped through these “cultural artifacts” in nearly 40 years. When I did, I got lost again.…
