Artist Statement by Denise Riggs:

I am a fine art photographer with a BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I have lived in the Pioneer Valley since 2002.

Instinctually, I approach a subject directly. I shoot what I see and call it what it is. I do not manipulate my images (outside of routine color correction), no cropping, no double exposure, and using only available light.

Often I enjoy engaging the viewer through a bit of wit that I capture through my lens. A common theme is taking an everyday object out of its ordinary or preconceived context, creating a puzzle of sorts for the viewer to decipher.

I am intrigued with reflections; I feel their layered complexities bring out the finest elements of contemporary photography.
