West Springfield High School photography students captured the detail of their surroundings in a backyard shooting assignment. They were asked to look beyond ‘things’ and find shapes, textures, lines, contrast, etc., that had been previously overlooked. The result are these thoughtful black and white images that offer a glimpse into their world.

Starace’s work for this show consists of colored pencil drawings and small sculpture. Her imagery arose from dreams and intuitions—hints of meaning from a recent time of radical change.
