Mycelium is a key stage in the formation of a mushroom. It is hidden from view but without this process, the mushroom does not fruit. This is a very active phase; more compounds are created during this phase than in the rest of the mushroom life cycle. Without it, we would have no mushroom.

I sit here during quarantine examining my ideas on social justice and equality for all. Where am I lacking, how can I educate myself, and how can I work to better myself and the community I live in? I want the fruit I bear for others to be potent; packed with vitamins and minerals, a gift to those around me. So, I sit. I do the inner work, the quiet work; my mycelium phase.
