I created these piece as part of a series called 'Where Did the Gun Come From?' which asks that simple question. In a place like Boston, MA which we tend to think of as a progressive liberal bastion, there is still a disconnect between our laws, our values / gun culture and the reality of deadly violence in our streets. This project asks why? Why Boston? Why Roxbury? Why Dorchester? How is it that a gun is in greater abundance and easier to access than employment, education or other opportunities? How is it that these guns are concentrated in those same communities that are lacking in resources and have been historically marginalized and exploited? How is this story like the story of guns in other cities?
