Esther S White
In the first week after the shutdown, my five year old son, Solomon, and I started a quilt. He chose the fabrics from my stash and came up with the design. I provided technical support and taught him to iron and use the sewing machine. I finished the quilt about a week before our second child was born in April.
When Solomon told me we should cut the quilt top in half and then in half again so that it could be pieced back together, I felt a special recognition of his creative spirit rubbing up against my own.
