This work reflects my effort to remain positive in the light of living through a pandemic and with the reality of the continued oppression of Black people in particular. The bright colors are a reaction to the grim times we are living through, an attempt to boost spirits and infuse a sense of resilience. Having moved to Westhampton six months ago I felt the privilege of having more studio space than before and living in a wooded environment. These circumstances have given me the opportunity to explore a new approach to making sculpture.
