Bobbie Salthouse

This summer, to escape the stresses of COVID and politics, I spent a lot of time in a tented structure we built in our backyard. One sunny afternoon I started noticing beautiful, ever-changing shadows, which I captured on my iPhone. I really liked the photos on their own, but they didn't exactly convey my own agitated mood in the dreamlike and sometimes nightmarish time we're living through. To that end, I am trying to represent the moment that sometimes happens in a dream when it turns from pleasant to uncomfortable. A technical note: I don't have a press in my home studio, and so all my current prints are pressed by hand, and because that is physically hard on my hands and arms, I have been working on a small scale.
