SUMMARY:"Collections": Small Works by Mary Witt and Brianna Ashe
DESCRIPTION:Witt & Ashe have both been working on a small scale for their upcoming exhibit “Collections”. They feel people need art\, now more than ever\, and with small pieces\, they are more accessible and can fit anywhere in the home or workplace. Collecting groups of art can also be a fun way to combine them by color\, style\, texture\, or any other similar or contrasting features. They both work with some abstraction and lots of color\, with Ashe focusing on text related to her life and work. Meeting in a printmaking workshop\,years ago\, they found that in spite of their different generations\, they immediately found common ground in how they work and play with art. Combining their work for their shows at Oxbow Gallery always seems to find a commonality\, creating an ongoing dialogue between the artists and their creations.

SUMMARY:Gary and DeeDee Niswonger: Color / Pattern / Life Front Gallery
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition combines for the first time the paintings of longtime Oxbow Gallery member Gary Niswonger with quilts made by DeeDee\, his wife of 61 years. Together they lived in Williamsburg MA\, in a home centered on a garden designed and established by DeeDee\, and painted by Gary. They shared a love of color and pattern\, and we celebrate their combined creations in this retrospective exhibition filled with paintings of DeeDee’s garden and bringing together her quilts and his abstract works. Gary died in February 2024.               Gary Niswonger received his BA from Miami University (Ohio) and his MFA from Rhode Island School of Design. He taught for 38 years at Smith College. DeeDee spent over a decade working on behalf of regional schools in western Massachusetts. SUMMARY:'Rock\, Paper\, Scissors' Margaret Humbert-Droz Cut paper and collage at Oxbow Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Oxbow Gallery in Easthampton\, www.oxbowgallery.com. \nForget the rock; to paper and scissors add glue-sticks\, a utility knife\, a swivel knife\, acrylic paint as well as found bits and pieces\, and you have the tools Margaret Humbert-Droz uses for her collages and cut paper pieces.  Her images riff on Euclid’s Elements of Geometry as well as nature’s Elements\, such as wind and rain. Flower seed catalogs are chopped up and re-assembled in colourful patterns based on traditional medieval motifs. In another group of images sinuous cuts into white paper create a dimensional effect that plays with light \, suggesting flow and movement.
