SUMMARY:Poetry Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Poetry Picnic: Come as you are. Leave with a poem. \nJoin us on the library annex lawn (or inside if it rains) during Art Walk for a free\, drop-in afternoon of poetry\, conversation\, and summer treats. \nWhether you’ve been writing for years or haven’t picked up a pen since grade school\, you’re invited. Stay for ten minutes or the whole afternoon. There are no critiques\, no pressure\, and no experience required. \nGrab a notebook\, enjoy a dessert\, and respond to gentle writing prompts inspired by the season—or simply listen. Throughout the afternoon\, local poets will offer brief readings\, and together we’ll create a community poem one line at a time. \nCome alone or bring a friend. Leave with a notebook full of observations\, a poem you didn’t expect\, and perhaps a few new friends. \nSaturday\, August 1\, 2026\n4:00–7:00 PM\nLibrary Annex Lawn \nFree • Drop in anytime \nHosted by\nPoet Isa Gitana \nFeaturing brief readings throughout the afternoon to be announced.

SUMMARY:The Reality of the Situation
DESCRIPTION:I want the audience to have an “in” outside the exclusivity of art-world sensibilities. At the same time\, I want to allow room for both cultural critique and senseless absurdity. The results can range from too-offhand to too-on-the-nose\, but I think there’s a general balance between the two. \nThese pieces span a number of years. Some of the earliest were made with a certain amount of smugness. Lately I’ve been wondering how much my work has been critiquing dominant culture\, vs. how much it has been centering it. To that end\, if there’s any smugness left\, may it be directed towards privilege.

SUMMARY:RCA Drop-In Public Studio Hours
DESCRIPTION:The time is yours! Drop In Public Studio is supervised by RCA studio assistants and instructors. There is no set theme or project for drop-in studio hours\, but our staff will always be there to share new techniques\, equipment\, and ideas with you! Come to hang out in community\, use any of RCA’s supplies\, and create independently! \nArtists younger than 11 must be accompanied by an adult\, ages 12-17 need written or phone call permission from a guardian to be at the studio without an adult. You can call RCA at (413) 342-0396 or email info@resilientcommunityarts.org \nPre-registration for Drop in Public Studio is NOT required but donations are helpful to keep the studio running! Our suggested donation is $10-$15/hr per person. Donations to RCA go directly toward supporting our mission of providing an accessible\, community-driven arts space and make offerings like our public drop in studio possible.
