Raging waves provide an epic backdrop for scenes of myth and battle\, while still pools enhance the tranquility of temples. Images of fishing boats\, ferries\, and rice fields celebrate the essential role of water in Japanese industry and daily life during the Edo\, Meiji\, and Showa periods.
