DESCRIPTION:Moonlit Sea Prints of Easthampton MA is thrilled to announce an extraordinary exhibition — Journeys of the Floating World: Highways and Travel in Edo-Era Japan. \nStep onto the storied roads of Edo-period Japan in this immersive showcase featuring the masterful woodblock prints of Utagawa Hiroshige\, Keisai Eisen\, Utagawa Kunisada\, and Utagawa Kuniyoshi. This exhibition explores the famed highways of Japan—the Tōkaidō Road\, the Kisokaidō Road\, and other celebrated travel routes—which served as vital arteries of commerce\, pilgrimage\, and artistic inspiration. \nThese roads were more than just thoroughfares; they were stages where the beauty and challenges of travel unfolded. Hiroshige’s poetic landscapes capture shifting seasons and atmospheric moods\, while Eisen’s bold compositions highlight the travelers who braved these winding paths. Kunisada infuses theatricality into his depictions\, weaving myth and legend into the journey\, while Kuniyoshi’s dynamic storytelling fills the roads with adventure and intrigue. \nFrom mist-covered mountain passes to bustling post towns\, Journeys of the Floating World transports viewers to a time when travel was both a necessity and an art form. Through these exquisite prints\, experience Edo-period Japan as it was seen by the great masters of ukiyo-e. \nJoin us at Moonlit Sea Prints as we traverse the roads that shaped Japan’s artistic imagination. \nThe exhibit runs from April 1\, 2025 through April 30\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Hailing from a generations old Vermont based folk music family\, Ida Mae Specker is a musical force of nature and her CitySpace debut on April 5 is not to be missed! \nFollowing a free fiddle workshop led by Specker and the 4th monthly CitySpace Bluegrass\, Ida Mae and her band will have audiences stompin’\, singin’\, and even cryin’. Specker is known for “playing a rambunctious version of old-time music that owes as much to punk rock as Appalachia\, at least in attitude.” \nTickets are $20 advance and $25 at the door. \nShow at 8:00pm\, April 5th. \nA 3rd generation fiddle player\, Ida Mae Specker was born in a one room cabin in the woods of Vermont. A longtime member of family band ‘The Speckers\,’ hailed by Vermont Public Radio as “Vermont Folk Heroes\,” Ida Mae fuses original\, contemporary\, and traditional material\, bringing heartfelt new life and relevance to the chain of American folk music. Currently touring as a solo artist and with a backing band\, her live show features Specker’s original songs in addition to creative arrangements of traditional old-time tunes\, bluegrass and country songs. \nFunded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts\, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.

DESCRIPTION:In 2020\, during the early days of the Covid pandemic\, I began \nmaking paintings of subjects close to home – myself\, my husband \nand a few friends. Picking up that thread some years later\, I’ve \nbeen painting from photographs of geographically far-flung friends \nand family\, and one seaside couple I saw but never met. \nIn these works\, I wanted\, above all\, to make an interesting \npainting\, while also catching something of the person’s \nanimating spark.
