DESCRIPTION:A costume party\, concert\, and music video screening. The theme is role models; come dressed as yours! If you’re your own role model\, come as you are. Indë will be live painting  during Art Walk. \nIndë was born and raised on Norwottuck land (Northampton) to Afro-Caribbean American heritage\, and their recent work redresses the absence of queer BIPoC in this white-dominated area who might have served as role models in their youth. Their touring exhibition\, Mirror\, Mirror\, explores this subject through painting\, sculpture\, recorded music\, and live performance. \nMasks are required for this event.

DESCRIPTION:Emphasizing sustainability\, accessibility and experimentation\, Petrovato’s recycled pulp retains fragments of previous use\, with visible bits of text and color embedded in the pieces\, creating objects that evoke the awareness of the interconnection of all things. As objects\, they exist as records of a practice of contemplative experimentation\, each emerging from reflection upon transformation and renewal. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the dis-integration of a historically inspired map of Easthampton and to reflect on our relationship with and responsibilities around change to the town and our world. \nOpening reception Saturday November 2\, 4pm-7pm

SUMMARY:Eli Helman: Maximalist Ink Drawings
DESCRIPTION:About the Artist:\nSelf-taught artist Eli Helman grew up in Framingham\, Massachusetts before attending college at American University in Washington\, DC. Shortly thereafter\, he moved to Tucson\, Arizona where\, motivated by blank walls in his apartment and a fascination with the landscapes and wildlife of the American West\, he began experimenting with pencil sketching. \nUpon returning to New England a few years later\, he discovered Micron pens. Since then he has spent thousands of hours meticulously crafting highly detailed ink drawings. Emphasizing intricately drawn lines and patterns\, he explores eclectic subjects through a blend of whimsical and thought provoking imagery. Inspired by music\, humor\, travel\, nature\, science and history\, he hopes viewers will find something new — or at least have a good chuckle — every time they gaze upon his work. \nAll original works are drawn by hand with Micron pens on paper.  Some pieces take over 200 hours to complete. \nSince 2010 he has been a full-time artist traveling around the country showing his work at art festivals.  He lives in Western Massachusetts.

DESCRIPTION:Hashi Pottery will be participating in Eastworks Open Studios. Hashi sells one-of-a-kind\, handcrafted ceramics created by Japanese potters or potters who have studied Japanese pottery techniques. Each pot conveys the values that distinguish Japanese artisanship: respect for materials\, full mindfulness in the crafting process\, and selfless service to those who will use their wares. Our potters use natural clay and sometimes wild clay harvested locally\, and natural or homemade glazes made from local materials and most of the pots are wood-fired. When you use one of our cups\, bowls\, vases\, or serving vessels\, you will not only appreciate its beauty\, but also the natural materials and the loving effort that brought it to me. In this way\, the object deepens your attention to each moment and enhances your enjoyment of everything you do. DESCRIPTION:Luminaries will line Cottage Street while the shops all stay open for late night Holiday Shopping. There will be special events in the stores so please check with them individually to find out what is happening. Each shop has donated items to a large gift basket that will be raffled at the end of the night. Lisa’s art delves into themes of healing\, self-discovery\, and cultural preservation\, creating spaces for reflection and transformation.   \nLisa’s journey into photography was inspired by her grandfather’s captivating street photography and her early fascination with the darkroom\, where she discovered the magic of light shaping stories. Over time\, her practice expanded to include sculpture and ethnographic approaches\, enabling her to connect with communities and honor their narratives. From documenting the lives of women in Baltimore’s prisons to capturing the spirit of children in Ghana’s northern regions\, Lisa’s work amplifies voices often overlooked and celebrates cultural resilience.   \nCurrently pursuing an MFA in Community Arts at the Maryland Institute College of Art\, Lisa combines her academic pursuits with fieldwork and mentorship. Her contributions have been recognized by institutions such as the Pittsburgh Art Society and Dayton Art Institute. She has also been supported by transformative fellowships\, including mentorship under Titus Brooks Heagins\, which have guided her in navigating the art world while deepening her practice.   \nLisa’s work centers on the idea of healing—both individual and collective. Through her lens and her hands\, she bridges cultural and generational gaps\, exploring shared human experiences. Heal Her Photography  represents her commitment to capturing and honoring stories that inspire connection\, understanding\, and transformation.   \n  \nArt Walk Easthampton takes place on Saturday February 1st from 4-7pm.

DESCRIPTION:Moonlit Sea Prints of Easthampton MA is thrilled to announce an extraordinary exhibition celebrating the life and art of Kasamatsu Shiro\, one of Japan’s most esteemed woodblock printmakers. The exhibit will showcase a stunning selection of his sosaku-hanga works\, offering visitors a chance to explore a transformative era in Japanese art. \nAbout Shiro Kasamatsu\nBorn in Tokyo in 1898\, Kasamatsu Shiro studied Nihonga\, a traditional Japanese painting style\, under Kaburagi Kiyokata. His early career saw him working with shin-hanga publishers like Watanabe Shozaburo\, creating evocative landscapes and scenes infused with traditional Japanese aesthetics. However\, in the 1950s\, Kasamatsu embraced sosaku-hanga (“creative prints”)\, a modern movement emphasizing the artist’s individual vision and hands-on involvement in every step of the printmaking process. \nKasamatsu’s sosaku-hanga prints reflect his mastery of design and technique\, often depicting serene landscapes\, atmospheric weather\, nuanced subjects and subtle textures that speak to his deep connection with nature and an evolving modernity. \nWhat is Sosaku-Hanga?\nSosaku-hanga\, which translates to “creative prints\,” emerged in Japan during the early 20th century as a response to the collaborative tradition of ukiyo-e and shin-hanga. In contrast to these styles\, sosaku-hanga artists insisted on personally designing\, carving\, and printing their works\, championing artistic autonomy and self-expression. This movement was heavily influenced by Western art philosophies while maintaining strong ties to Japanese aesthetics. \nThrough this exhibit\, you will witness how Kasamatsu’s transition to sosaku-hanga allowed him to push boundaries\, creating prints that balance modern artistic innovation with Japan’s timeless beauty.
