DESCRIPTION:The Robert Floyd Photo Gallery and Easthampton Media present a new Photography Exhibit: Graffiti in Montreal by Richard Bulda \nRichard Bulda captures images that rock with a sense of happening. His travels to Montreal for the Under Pressure\, Annual Montreal Graffiti festival has been a rich experience. This exhibit showcases 12 of his Montreal artwork. Richard started photography using a film camera. His first memorable foray in digital was Christo’s Gate project in Central Park. He was hooked then. He enjoys rubbing elbows with highly creative people wherever he travels. He often visits Miami\, Manhattan\, Montreal\, Atlantic City\, and Brooklyn. \nCome to the reception Saturday September 14th from 5-8pm during Art Walk\nor come view weekday hours ~ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm \nEasthampton Media is in the Eastworks Building – 116 Pleasant Street\, Suite 102 in Easthampton\nA portion of the proceeds of art sales support our 501c3 nonprofit community media center Easthampton Media.

DESCRIPTION:A group exhibit by Artists at the Crossroads. \nWith work by Bernie Duffy\, Beverlee Corriveau\, Donna Shaw\, E.E. Eidman\, Janet Miller\, Joan Barnard-Nelson\, Linda Lastoff\, Madelyn Miller\, Peter Sarno\, Sue Newman.\nFormed in 2011\, “Artists at the Crossroads” is a group of 12 impassioned professional artists from the Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut region.  Collectively they present an eclectic body of work covering all mediums and styles of fine art including traditional\, contemporary and three dimensional.  Each artist is encouraged to pursue individual endeavors\, but their greatest pride is reflected in the scope and range of their group shows\, which happen several times a year. \nThis exhibit is also a fundraiser for the Easthampton Community Center Food Pantry: Bring a non-perishable food item to the Elusie Gallery and register to win an archival limited edition print by D.J.Shaw\, pictured here. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Tammie Carrier\, a child of the 70’s\, was born in Northampton and raised in Easthampton. She is a graduate of Smith Vocational\, Culinary Arts program. Tammie has held a variety of jobs throughout the years\, including owning her own business’. From home day care to house cleaning and also the prior owner of “Cherry Picked Books” which once resides on Main Street in Easthampton. She began painting just before her 40th birthday and discovered she had a natural hidden talent. With no formal training\, Tammie has spent the last few years perfecting her craft. The display of Artwork at Mt Toms will be her first public display.

SUMMARY:Electric Feminine Cosmic Hybrid: Heady Desire Delirious Excess
DESCRIPTION:An immersive installation and performance which explores digital simulation and symbolic forms of the feminine in nature\, and the the cosmic archetypal.  Using new media as a vehicle for investigating hybrid creation\, I explore mythic and botanic embodiments of the feminine\, and relationships between feminism\, science\, pop culture\, consciousness\, electronic media and nature. Feminine excess\, desire\, decadence and the immaterial are recurring themes in this work. \nThe simulated or digital image can never fully represent or stand in for it’s organic original. Yet\, we live in a world where our senses\, bodies\, thoughts and ideas are stimulated on a daily basis by digital images and simulated experiences. With it’s vivd and fleshy colors and distorted biomorphic forms\, the Electric Feminine Cosmic Hybrid series investigates the hyper-sensual decadence and coded forms of feminine representation\, and speaks to the elasticity of feminine sexuality\, imagination and consciousness. Installation is site specific\, and completely unique to the location and exhibition space. \nColleen Keough is a Trans-Disciplinary Intermedia artist based in Amherst\, MA. Her work explores the intersection of pop culture\, identity\, myth and technology through integrated media works. Her works have been shown in national and international exhibitions and festivals.

SUMMARY:Seeking Possibilities by Marla Shelasky
DESCRIPTION:Seeking Possibilities shows my exploration of this technique during a time of transition in my life. While aesthetically this includes how color\, line and texture interact with each other in a weave structure\, the process is tedious in the physical making of it and presents innumerable opportunities for fine-tuning through design and problem solving — a process akin to working through the myriad of choices one encounters in life’s transitions. \nEach woven painting is created by first making two acrylic paintings on paper\, side-by-side\, while considering how each visual element will interact with the corresponding imagery on the other when they are woven together. As the paintings are cut into strips for weaving\, the minute lines and textures deep within the imagery present themselves clearly and beautifully on these narrow surfaces\, and then again as they float in and out with the woven structure. This process led to further exploration of piecing together small textured surfaces\, experimenting with color and texture combinations.
