SUMMARY:Kahli Hernandez at ECA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:“The Show I Can’t Talk About” is an exhibition of paintings by Kahli Hernandez. \nBIO: Kahli Hernandez was born in Brooklyn\, NY and was raised in the 413 (Springfield\, MA). Growing up\, a number 2 pencil and computer paper were his main tools for creativity. He states: “I started using my God given talent to draw things that made me excited\, consistently adding things I liked on any surface I could get my hands on (including mom’s kitchen walls\, tables\, and chairs). The digital art space became my new playground when I discovered Microsoft Paint on my dad’s Windows 98 computer. During high school and college\, I widened the door to mixed media and expanded on new ways to express myself.” \n

SUMMARY:Georgia Pugh Seawalls: Then and Now front gallery
DESCRIPTION:Georgia Pugh lives and works in Hatfield\, Massachusetts. The “Seawall Series” depict the results of high seas\, storms and devastating coastal incursions brought about by climate change.  The work presents sea walls\, broken remnants of iron\, concrete\, rock and rebar built to keep water from land.  Using imagery of these powerful\, yet precarious forms\, the artist provokes a sense of the perpetual interaction between human will and the forces of nature. \nMs. Pugh’s work can be found in collections throughout the United States\, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York\, the Philadelphia Museum\, the Library of Congress\, and the Boston Public Library.  Her paintings and drawings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions at such venues as the Mississippi Museum\, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art\, and at the Rockefeller Estate in Westchester County\, NY. www.GeorgiaPugh.com. \n  \nImage: \nMilton’s Moon    oil on Linen    4 ft W by 3 ft H    2018

SUMMARY:“The Remarkable Rescue at Milkweed Meadow”: Author event with Mass Book Award-Honoree Elaine Dimopoulos
DESCRIPTION:Join the Easthampton Public Library for a special event with middle-grade author and Mass Book Award-Honoree Elaine Dimopoulos! Elaine will share her adventure novel\, The Remarkable Rescue at Milkweed Meadow and lead a writing exercise. \nButternut lives in the burrows of Milkweed Meadow with her nine rabbit brothers and sisters. Together they practice strategies for survival and tell stories. With disastrous scenarios blooming in her mind\, Butternut embraces the lesson of her families’ stories: stick to your own rabbit-kind. But after befriending a persistent little robin and a wounded deer\, Butternut begins to question what she has been taught and starts to sneak out at night\, collecting thrilling adventures of her own.\n\nWhen the three friends discover other animals in crisis and a terrifying predator on the loose\, Butternut must decide whether she can help\, rally her friends and family\, and be as brave as the heroes in the stories she tells. This timeless tale of courage\, compassion\, and the unexpected power of storytelling that is sure to charm animal-loving readers. \nThis program is sponsored by the Mass Book Awards Speakers Bureau and is presented in collaboration with the Massachusetts Center for the Book. \nElaine Dimopoulos is the author of the 2024 Massachusetts Book Award Honors Title The Remarkable Rescue at Milkweed Meadow and its sequel\, The Perilous Performance at Milkweed Meadow\, both middle-grade animal adventure stories illustrated by Caldecott Medalist Doug Salati. Turn the Tide\, her middle-grade novel-in-verse inspired by real-world environmental activism\, won the Green Earth Book Award. She is also the author of the young adult fast fashion dystopia\, Material Girls. SUMMARY:Journeys of the Floating World: Highways and Travel in Edo-Era Japan
DESCRIPTION:Moonlit Sea Prints of Easthampton MA is thrilled to announce an extraordinary exhibition — Journeys of the Floating World: Highways and Travel in Edo-Era Japan. \nStep onto the storied roads of Edo-period Japan in this immersive showcase featuring the masterful woodblock prints of Utagawa Hiroshige\, Keisai Eisen\, Utagawa Kunisada\, and Utagawa Kuniyoshi. This exhibition explores the famed highways of Japan—the Tōkaidō Road\, the Kisokaidō Road\, and other celebrated travel routes—which served as vital arteries of commerce\, pilgrimage\, and artistic inspiration. \nThese roads were more than just thoroughfares; they were stages where the beauty and challenges of travel unfolded. Hiroshige’s poetic landscapes capture shifting seasons and atmospheric moods\, while Eisen’s bold compositions highlight the travelers who braved these winding paths. Kunisada infuses theatricality into his depictions\, weaving myth and legend into the journey\, while Kuniyoshi’s dynamic storytelling fills the roads with adventure and intrigue. \nFrom mist-covered mountain passes to bustling post towns\, Journeys of the Floating World transports viewers to a time when travel was both a necessity and an art form. Through these exquisite prints\, experience Edo-period Japan as it was seen by the great masters of ukiyo-e. \nJoin us at Moonlit Sea Prints as we traverse the roads that shaped Japan’s artistic imagination. \nThe exhibit runs from April 1\, 2025 through April 30\, 2025. The gallery is open by appointment Monday through Friday\, 8:30-2:30.

SUMMARY:Hashi Pottery – Art Walk Open House at 50 Arrow Gallery & Moonlit Sea Prints
DESCRIPTION:oin us for an evening of handcrafted beauty at 50 Arrow Gallery and Moonlit Sea Prints during the upcoming Easthampton Art Walk. This special open house invites you to explore an evolving collection of functional ceramic art and textiles\, ranging from intimate\, everyday pieces to striking sculptural forms. \nDiscover the quiet elegance of hand-thrown yunomi for tea\, bud vases\, and deeply textured mugs and bowls\, alongside statement pieces like expansive serving bowls\, platters\, and large vases—each crafted with an intuitive sense of balance\, proportion\, and materiality. \nMuch of the work featured is made by local potters who incorporate regionally sourced materials\, including wild clay\, river sand\, crushed granite\, and corn ash—elements that root each piece in a distinct sense of place. The Japanese aesthetic informs many of the works on display\, emphasizing a reverence for natural forms\, asymmetry\, and the quiet depth found in weathered textures\, soft glazes\, and the marks of fire and hand. \nThis open house is an opportunity to experience the intersection of utility and artistry\, to handle pieces that invite daily use while carrying the imprint of the maker’s touch. Whether you’re drawn to the warmth of a well-fitted teacup or the presence of a sculptural vessel\, we welcome you to join us for conversation\, appreciation\, and a deeper encounter with the beauty of handmade work.
