SUMMARY:Stephanie Vignone: "Familiar Places: Landscapes" and Roxanne Boyd: "Framing Light"
DESCRIPTION:FRONT GALLERY: \nAs far back as she can remember\, Vignone has spent lots of time walking outdoors. She loves to be outside—in the woods\, hiking with her dogs\, in the gardens by her house. About twenty years ago\, she took a pastel landscape painting class\, and began to combine my love of the natural world with painting. Painting the places she sees has given her another deep way to connect with them.  \nThe paintings are done in pastel and oil paint. They are based in observation and sketching—some are finished plein air\, and some in the studio.  \n  \nBoyd pieces are constructions. Boyd often utilizes found objects\, and in the upcoming show at Oxbow Gallery\, she will be displaying pieces which have an emphasis on their relationship to light.

SUMMARY:Katherine Weinstein: "Junctures
DESCRIPTION:Katherine received her MFA from the New York Academy of Art\, in NYC where she maintained a studio practice and taught art to middle and high-school students for many years before moving to the valley two decades ago. She continues her passion for painting and teaching art at numerous venues. \n  \nJunctures\, a particular point in an event or time; a place where things join. \n  \nThe title reflects the narrative and visual focus of this body of work; themes of adolescence\, empty nesting\, or just spatial tensions. When developing her images\, Katherine looks for transitional points and overlapping forms; jutting elbows\, twisting torsos\, bodies receding into space or crossing one another.

SUMMARY:THE AWAKENING - Rosemary Barrett
DESCRIPTION:June 7\, 2025 – June 28\, 2025 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday June 7\, 4-7pm\n\n\n\nRosemary Barrett is an accomplished artist who has shown her work in Europe and the US for the past three decades.\nMs. Barrett comes from a long line of artists and craftsmen who exposed her to ideas and techniques that have influenced her sculpture and painting. Art is important in the Barrett family and Rosemary’s love and exploration started early. Awards in High School and College include a full Ford Foundation Scholarship and various museum scholarships.\nAssemblage is among Ms. Barrett’s early accomplishments. They explore poetic themes with found objects arranged in delicate boxes. In the Joseph Cornell tradition they exemplify the power of duality and extemporaneous fusion. The influence of assemblage is evident in her sculpture and painting as well.\nAt St. John the Divine in NYC\, Ms. Barrett worked within the resident program for The Fantasy Foundation with Gregg Wyatt\, developing skills for cold casting and bronze work. She carries that knowledge and aesthetic to the studio when teaching students sculpture. \n\nThis exhibit will showcase a selections of her floral paintings\, larger than life in more ways than one\,  and an appropriate subject matter for this Spring Season. \n\n
