SUMMARY:Cottage Street Sings!
DESCRIPTION:Cottage Street Sings! \nThe Cottage Street Cultural District Committee is planning a new and exciting event called Cottage Street Sings! Communal singing is a vibrant part of many cultural traditions from around the world. In that spirit\, the Cottage Street Cultural District will host a communal singing event that aims to bring together members of the community to celebrate winter seasonal music of a wide variety of cultures\, faiths\, and traditions. \nThe event will take place on the Cottage Street promenade along Nashawannuck Pond at the entryway to the cultural district. It will be held at 5pm on December 8\, 2018 and will last 30 minutes. Participants will sing seasonal songs from a variety of religious and cultural traditions. The event will culminate in the lighting of Cottage Street\, including the tree on the pond along with artist projections on various buildings along the street. This event is open to all and it is the committee’s goal to have all traditions represented during the event. \nCottage Street Sings also coincides with two other exciting events in the district: Art Walk\, which begins at 5pm\, and the annual Easthampton Chaunukah Festival\, which will begin at 5:30pm directly following Cottage Street Sings. \nAll of the music that we gather will be distributed to the public in advance in the form of recordings and notated music and lyrics so that all can participate in joyful singing on Cottage Street. You can find all of that music right here on this event page. \nThis is event is FREE\, family-friendly\, and open to ALL! We hope to see you there!! \nThe Cottage Street Cultural District is an initiative of Easthampton City Arts and the City of Easthampton.

WinterFest is a fundraising event created to bring public awareness about ongoing efforts needed to keep Nashawannuck Pond healthy for generations to come. Most activities are free to attend. Donations are gladly accepted and sponsorship opportunities are available. \nActivities include ice harvesting on Nashawannuck Pond\, wagon rides\, nature hikes\, snow sculpting and carving\, community bonfire with music. Indoor activities include a craft fair\, kid’s entertainment\, the movie “Frozen” on the big screen\, and the people’s choice chili cook off. Bring the kids\, grandparents\, friends and out of area visitors and make it a day in Easthampton. These events are free and open to the public. Highlighting Easthampton High School’s arts\, the Easthampton High School Arts Festival displays student work from the studio art and graphic and media arts programs. Easthampton High School teacher Eileen Claveloux spearheaded this event in 2007 and presented the idea to framer and gallery owner Jean Pierre Pasche after she received a grant for the project. DESCRIPTION:Making designs with curls of paper is probably centuries old\, but really came to shine during the Victorian era. Our quilling artist and store owner\, Lauren Grover\, will be demonstrating how to take simple tools of paper\, glue\, and a needle\, and turn them into gorgeous snowflakes suitable for framing or as holiday ornaments. We will have some previous works for sale\, and you can place an order for your own choice of color and pattern. You can also sign up for classes on how to make your own! \nWe will also be hosting a chocolate tasting for our line of absolutely amazing Willie’s Cacao chocolate bars. They’re handcrafted\, single estate bars made on machines over 100 years old. Most chocolates Americans get is from a plant bred to produce as many beans as possible\, with flavor being secondary. These are a different variety\, and you’ll taste the difference right away\, with varietal flavors similar to wine’s complexity. We’ll be offering Milk of the Stars\, a 60% cacao from Indonesia with complex caramel tones\, Rio Caribe Gold\, a vegan 72% from Venezuela with notes of nuts and coffee\, Chulcanas Gold\, a vegan 72% from Peru with notes of raisins and plums\, Ginger Lime\, a vegan 70% from Cuba with layers of flavors\, and Pistachio and Date\, a vegan 100% from Rio Maranon\, with no added sugar\, just the fruit. Terrific for diabetics! These all sound like they’re super dark\, but without the bitter taste of common beans\, you may find you like them darker than you’d thought. \nThe rest of the store will also be open\, featuring quilling kits\, diamond painting kits\, henna body art\, chocolates\, and our handmade skin care line.

SUMMARY:ECA Gallery Presents: Kristi W. Colbert
DESCRIPTION:“From the Pieces” is a rotating exhibition of painted paper collage landscapes by Kristi W. Colbert\, a Leverett-based mixed media artist inspired by country life in Western Massachusetts\, as well as travels and wanderlust beyond. Composed of snippets from the recycle bin and bits of junk mail painted with gouache\, colored pencil\, and neocolor crayon\, Kristi’s work explores and evokes a palpable sense of place\, as transportive landscapes\, seascapes\, and cityscapes emerge from reclaimed paper fragments. As a self-identified perfectionist with the world closing in around her at the onset of the pandemic\, Kristi turned to collage as an experimental means of breaking out – outside the lines\, out of her perfectionism\, out of the confines of her home. Right away\, she fell in love with the freedom and duality of collage\, in both process and aesthetic. It is painterly and sculptural; deconstructive and reconstructive; realistic and abstract; intricate and unfussy. Her work is a record of places traveled\, and a map to what lies ahead. And\, situated in a time of such global heartbreak and destruction\, Kristi’s work is a meditative practice in\, and energetic manifestation of\, hope and repair – gluing together pieces of a broken world to remind us all of the beauty that surrounds us. Ultimately\, through her work\, Kristi invites viewers to revel in multiplicity\, sink into the wonder of place\, and make meaning from scrap. \nKristi’s work has been exhibited by galleries in Massachusetts\, Connecticut\, New York\, and Michigan\, recognized by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, featured in Gillette Stadium and the Massachusetts State House\, and has a fast growing body of collectors near and far. \nwww.kristicolbert.com\nIG @kristicolbertstudio
