SUMMARY:Henna World Tour at Peacock's Nest
DESCRIPTION:Henna has a multicultural\, multiethnic history that goes back at least 3000 years. Come to our free demo\, and see the different ways it’s been used by different cultures and peoples throughout history! \nWe’ll be exploring how the differences in the henna itself\, caused by climate and growing conditions\, effects how it’s used artistically and why the various designs are constructed.

SUMMARY:Seen and Unseen by Kathy Ford
DESCRIPTION:Oxbow’s Front Gallery will display the quilts of Kathy Ford in her upcoming show “Seen and Unseen”. \nFord states “I use fabric\, thread\, and the structure of quiltmaking to create abstract geometrics and/or representational collage\, watching for what lives in the spaces between composition and stitching. Seeing what lives in the spaces between things is exciting for me. I like to think of this process as discovering order. Within composition\, handwork\, or machine stitching\, the ‘unseen’ that emerges happens most naturally in slow motion\, most often as I am moving back and forth between two developing quilts and allowing time to do its work too.”

SUMMARY:"Tricennium" - Oxbow Gallery Group Show
DESCRIPTION:Bonnie Ashmore\, Joanna Dunn\, David Schell\, Cyndy Sperry\, and Jason Travers will be exhibiting works in their group show “Tricennium” in Oxbow’s Back Gallery. \nTricennium is a celebration of 30 years of making art and community and connection.  The 5 artists comprising Tricennium were privileged to be part of two classes that worked side by side in a warren of studios in the Cassel building at American University’s MFA program in the late 1990’s.  The spirit of that time continues to carry through our work.  The artists express gratitude that they have the time and space to show together.

SUMMARY:The Art of Amy Kotel at Dry Humor
DESCRIPTION:Amy Dawn Kotel is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative path spans dance\, puppetry\, education\, and fitness\, all of which inform her vibrant fine art practice. After years working in movement-based and community-centered arts\, she returned to visual art as a primary outlet\, using drawing\, painting\, collage\, and upcycled fabric sculpture to explore her inner world. Her work is characterized by bold color\, dynamic movement\, and intricate compositions built from small shapes that form larger images. Blending elements of nature\, abstraction\, and surrealism\, Kotel’s pieces often oscillate between expressing emotional depth and imagining beauty\, inviting viewers into a space that is at once playful\, heartfelt\, and introspective.

SUMMARY:Updated Works by Andrea Holland
DESCRIPTION:Andrea (Andi) Holland is a Western Massachusetts–based freelance illustrator and fine artist whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world\, often seeking out what she describes as the “magic” found in trees and landscapes. After beginning her artistic journey during the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic—following a long career in healthcare—she has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning graphite\, charcoal\, mixed media\, and digital art. Her pieces range from expressive portraiture and children’s illustration to evocative depictions of local places\, all unified by a sense of curiosity and imagination. Now\, Holland is debuting a whole new collection on view at Dry Humor\, where her work continues to explore emotion\, storytelling\, and the beauty of the everyday.

SUMMARY:Julian Parker Burns – Interconnections via the Garden
DESCRIPTION:The Elusie Gallery\nMay 2\, 2026 – May 30\, 2026\nArtWalk and Artist Reception: Saturday May 2nd\, 4-7pm \n“My pictures are taken from my commutes\, regular visits and favorite locations\, and my garden – I see the same places and people in many different lights over a period of time.\nWith these images I will create a montage of my photographs by intuitively pairing and combining complementary moments to form a working composition. I then print out overlapping sections from a digital image and affix it with acrylic medium to a primed wood panel. Then I respond to the image with pastel\, pencil and paint to infuse an energy that the mechanized elements (the camera\, computer and printer) of the process lack. I then may further alter the composition by reintroducing the photographic elements or continue to add pigmented layers of color\, line and texture. The work is completed when I feel the line between photograph and hand applied pigment has been blurred and conventions of space and physics have been challenged.”

SUMMARY:Moonlit Sea: April 2026 Exhibit: Moments
DESCRIPTION:Moonlit Sea Prints of Easthampton MA is thrilled to announce an extraordinary exhibition — “Moments”\, curated by Sarah Ricker\, Mount Holyoke 2026\, Art History and English. \nThis exhibition focuses on prints that depict the quiet moments during life. Here\, art becomes a site of emotional processing\, whether through seeing nature as a peaceful sanctuary or interpersonal contemplation. \nThroughout these prints\, we can spot figures wandering through idyllic scenes of nature\, quietly observing waves lapping against shores\, trees swaying in the breeze\, or snow dusting the ground. Shrines and bridges stand solemnly amid waterways and cherry blossom trees. Some busy themselves in markets or face intense weather. Animals and flowers lean on one another too\, quietly interacting or expressing affection. Lone figures even stay in their own silent moments\, deep in their private thoughts. \nThese moments of meditation reflect a timeless quality of beauty\, peaceful longing\, or even resentment and passion. These prints invite one to pause and reflect on the ephemeral quality of life\, leaning into an evocative serenity that subtly plays out beneath the surface. \nThe exhibit runs from April 17\, 2026 through May 31\, 2026. The gallery is open by appointment Monday through Friday\, 8:30-2:30.

SUMMARY:Deborah Way at ECA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Our choice of clothing is a signifier to the world of our values\, our creativity\, our desires\, and our socio-economic status. This series of wall-hung\, abstract\, soft sculptures by Deborah Way examines the meanings of our outer selves that are communicated by apparel fabrics. At first fun and fanciful\, the sculptures benefit from deeper contemplation for their meanings to be revealed. In these pieces\, the colorful fabric forms are in contrast with dark voids\, often surrounded by wire fencing. These mysterious areas are a symbol of our untidy inner selves that cannot remain hidden for long. The show includes larger and smaller works that extend from the wall onto the floor\, as well as some smaller wall-hung works. The pieces complement each other while retaining individual identities. Entering the space will be like entering a child-like world of strange\, colorful shapes built with familiar fabrics — ditzy ginghams\, stretch cottons\, polyester uniforms\, plaid flannels — with a subtle\, underlying sense of unease created by the darker voids. The balance created by each piece symbolizes what can be achieved when both inner and outer selves are in tune. \nARTIST STATEMENT: \nWorking largely in the medium of soft sculpture\, I make work that is a physical manifestation of what we hide and what we cannot help but reveal. Colorful and playful at first glance\, the work can be seen to illustrate the secret fears that are alleviated when allowed to be examined. I explore the interaction between what our civilized\, outer selves present to the world while our inner selves roil messily beneath. \nI choose materials such as fabric\, wire\, and papier-mâché because they are familiar and invite touch while calling to mind the human form. Fabrics are chosen with the intent to induce nostalgia or conjure specific familial figures. To induce a feeling of tension\, I enjoy using contrasting elements\, such as hard and soft or bright and dark. The overall balance obtained by each piece is a symbol of what we can accomplish when both inner and outer selves are in tune. \nBIO \nDeborah Way is a contemporary artist living in western Massachusetts. A graduate of Hampshire College (BA) and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MFA)\, she has participated in several solo and group shows\, including at the A3 Gallery in Amherst and Abigail Ogilvy in Boston.

SUMMARY:Below & Within / Julie Kumble & Martha Brouwer
DESCRIPTION:The Elusie Gallery\nJune 6 – 27\nArtists Reception: June 6\, 4-7pm\nBelow and Within \nBelow and Within explores the underwater world – primarily fish\, turtles and frogs – and what it stirs within artists Julie Kumble and Martha Brouwer.  As individuals\, fish appear beautiful\, strange\, vulnerable.  In groups\, particularly in massive shoals\, they’re powerful and they convey hope of the collective.  By engaging with the paintings\, the artists hope that viewers will also feel a reverence for what they don’t normally see\, and in turn increase their conscience and actions in protecting our waters.

SUMMARY:Falcon Laina at ECA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Statement by Falcon Laina \nTwo years ago\, in a time of upheaval in my personal life\, I began having thematically cohesive dreams. I noticed the same characters returning night after night\, and imagery which felt strangely specific and meaningful. I began to think of these images as my companions\, and these characters as vessels which could serve as a sculptural body to my emotions. The central sculpture in this project is a hollow ceramic marionette suspended from a steel frame. This body is vulnerable in its capacity to be a container as well as its reliance on an external support structure. Genres and formats\, the packaging and repackaging of information in order to aid communication and understanding forms a central interest to me as a transgender person. Combining indexical and non-indexical media\, the archive consists of silver gelatin prints\, drawings\, and found objects which document the story of one person’s complex inner world.
