SUMMARY:Pottery Demos and Open Studio
DESCRIPTION:Studio 404 on the 4th floor of Cottage Street Studios. Come visit our studio on Art Walk Saturday in Easthampton. I’ll be doing demos\, talking about our new “Make Plates with Me” events. If it’s slow\, I’ll be making work. If people come to shop\, I’ll be doing sales. The studio will be set up as it is during production times (not like at Open Studios). Come learn about how we make the pottery. Other art studios in the building will be open for part of this time.

SUMMARY:Images by Danielle Tait
DESCRIPTION:Photographs by Danielle Tait / Art Walk Reception at Mt. Tom’s Homemade Ice Cream \nArtist Statement: The images in this exhibit are from my travels both near and far from home. As an artist I am often drawn to the textures\, patterns\, and colors that you can only see as you get closer to an object. The act of photographing something or someone allows me to observe all of these little details and see the subject in a whole new way. With my camera in hand I am able to interact with my surroundings differently\, observing life around me more intimately. \nAfter graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999 with a BFA\, I began to pursue a career in photography. Although I spend most of my time photographing people\, I always appreciate the quiet moments just wandering and finding beauty in all the small details around me.

SUMMARY:Visual Confections at Kawaii Supply
DESCRIPTION:Now through the Holidays on display in the windows of Kawaii Supply 52 Union St. Easthampton! \n“I create my Visual Confections from a range of materials including vintage and found objects\, faux candy\, artificial flowers\, glass and plastic beads\, and my personal collection of miniatures. From these I construct elaborate ecosystems that embody happiness and shimmer with color and life. A metal framework is decorated in a series of interwoven neighborhoods of clustered forms\, with tiny animals prowling around the joyful sprays of beads and flowers. \nFrom a distance\, the piece could be a glimmering planet or magical formation discovered on a walk. Draw closer\, and discover how communities of objects flow into each other\, presenting new aspects and interactions from every angle. Become calm and focussed by this observation\, from the full realm down to the smallest bauble.\nColorful\, twinkling LED lights illuminate each piece; with or without the lights activated\, your Visual Confection will enhance your space with a vibrant palette covering the whole spectrum. \nMy working methods express the calmness and joy that comes from the contemplative act of arranging objects. Rather than being sorted into strict categories and taxonomies\, the tiny materials enjoy the freedom of intuitively ordered worlds. The resulting decorative environments\, with names drawn from the writings of composer Erik Satie\, are designed to be experienced both close-up and at a distance.” \nLinda Gale Aubry

SUMMARY:Cottage Street Sings!
DESCRIPTION:Cottage Street Sings! \nThe Cottage Street Cultural District Committee is planning a new and exciting event called Cottage Street Sings! Communal singing is a vibrant part of many cultural traditions from around the world. In that spirit\, the Cottage Street Cultural District will host a communal singing event that aims to bring together members of the community to celebrate winter seasonal music of a wide variety of cultures\, faiths\, and traditions. \nThe event will take place on the Cottage Street promenade along Nashawannuck Pond at the entryway to the cultural district. It will be held at 5pm on December 8\, 2018 and will last 30 minutes. Participants will sing seasonal songs from a variety of religious and cultural traditions. The event will culminate in the lighting of Cottage Street\, including the tree on the pond along with artist projections on various buildings along the street. This event is open to all and it is the committee’s goal to have all traditions represented during the event. \nCottage Street Sings also coincides with two other exciting events in the district: Art Walk\, which begins at 5pm\, and the annual Easthampton Chaunukah Festival\, which will begin at 5:30pm directly following Cottage Street Sings. \nAll of the music that we gather will be distributed to the public in advance in the form of recordings and notated music and lyrics so that all can participate in joyful singing on Cottage Street. You can find all of that music right here on this event page. \nThis is event is FREE\, family-friendly\, and open to ALL! We hope to see you there!! \nThe Cottage Street Cultural District is an initiative of Easthampton City Arts and the City of Easthampton.

SUMMARY:Short and Sweet by Dave Rothstein
DESCRIPTION:This lighthearted series illustrates every day idioms by pairing miniatures with colorful penny candy.  The approach is minimalist\, playing with the depth of field to momentarily distort our perspectives of space and place.  The pairing focuses attention on the texture and composition that we overlook.  And the miniatures engage our childlike sense of wonder.

SUMMARY:Easthampton Futures Project: Prioritized Action
DESCRIPTION:Easthampton Futures Project : Prioritized Action \nEasthampton City Arts & the City of Easthampton’s Planning Department\, working in partnership with Dpict\, are thrilled to announce the Easthampton Futures Project\, a series of facilitated community workshops that will invite members of our community to envision and articulate the future of Arts & Culture for the City of Easthampton. \nThe information generated in these public sessions will provide the foundation for the next iteration of the Arts & Culture chapter of the City of Easthampton’s Master Plan. \nWe propose an interactive and collaborative process to identify ideas\, establish priorities\, and work with City officials to bring these ideas into being. Graceful navigation of this transition will create lasting impact\, today and tomorrow. We will start with exploring the future of Arts & Culture in Easthampton. \nJune 22nd: Prioritized Action\nWe will land our vision for the future of Arts & Culture in Easthampton\, and engage in structured design work around goals and strategies. \n\nSave the dates!\nMay 18 // June 1 // June 22\nAll sessions run from 10am – 4pm\nFood will generously be provided by Galaxy \nLearn more about how you can participate!\neasthamptonfutures.org
