Ashley is a Borikén artist whose work explores Taino spirituality\, ancestral lineage\, and the reclamation of Indigenous Caribbean identity. Rooted in research\, oral history\, and cultural memory\, their practice centers on the creation of Zemis as spiritual anchors that honor the past while existing in contemporary space. Ashley challenges narratives of erasure and invites viewers to engage with themes of survival\, continuity\, and reverence. Their art acts as both personal reflection and collective remembrance\, with a contemporary Pop art twist\, amplifying Indigenous presence in modern art spaces.

SUMMARY:Trace Meek at ECA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Artist Trace Meek shares: \nLost Town is a series of paintings inspired by the true story of the four “lost towns” of the Swift River Valley — Dana\, Enfield\, Greenwich\, and Prescott\, Massachusetts — all of which were sacrificed in the name of progress. In the 1930s the four towns were flooded to create the Quabbin Reservoir\, to supply drinking water to the then-growing population of the Greater Boston Area. \nThis body of work is about loss. The people in these communities were forced to leave their homes and the land that they had grown to love. In a sense\, they lost a part of their identity\, in much the same way as indigenous peoples did when people from Europe moved in\, generations prior. Buildings were torn down\, and the whole place disappeared under water. \nBut this work is also about transcending loss by remembering. These paintings are sentimental portraits of real people and real places. But in the context of this show\, they serve as “actors” portraying similar people and landscapes that could have existed in the vanished valley\, and in the hearts and minds of the expatriates.”

DESCRIPTION:Visit Alchemy Fiber Mill during Art Walk! We are a small-batch fiber processing mill creating a link between local farmers and makers with our heirloom quality yarn and fiber. Find us in our Eastworks studio\, suite 028 (ground floor\, down the hall from Daily Operation Restaurant). Our pop-up shop offers yarn\, roving\, batts\, felting kits and more. Our yarn stash (Madelinetosh and other yarns just added!) and sample sale continues: look for fully knit samples for sale\, sweaters ($25) and accessories\, like scarves ($10). \nCozy couches\, community\, and creative vibes. Join us at the fiber lounge!\nFiber Lounge: BYOP (bring your own project) where you can meet other makers\, stay and hang out for a bit. Open Spin at 2:30\, Fiber Lounge at 4\, Stash Sale the whole time (2:30-7pm). We’d love to see what you’re working on!
