SUMMARY:Vivian Bresnitz Photography
DESCRIPTION:Vivian is a graduate of NYC’s School of Visual Arts (class of 1982) with a BFA in Photography. Her work has been exhibited in New York\, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. After college\, she worked in professional photo labs in NY and RI. In 1991\, she shifted gears\, moving to western MA to become a Massage\, Polarity and Neuromuscular Therapist\, taking a hiatus from photography. \nIn 2014\, a friend reignited Vivian’s phot passion with a gift: his retired pro DSLR camera. She assisted him and other professional photographers at weddings and events\, eventually going out on her own\, building a portfolio\, including high school seniors\, family portraits and professional headshots\, all while remaining a full-time massage therapist. \nWhile the 2020 pandemic slowed the event work\, it opened time for long walks in the neighborhood\, the woods and beyond. Always with a camera\, isolation and “getting out” made everything seem fresh. Observing the spatial layout\, the color\, shapes\, textures\, the vastness…seeing the ‘stories.’ She’s always trying to bring these visions “home” to the viewer\, to experience or urge them to see for themselves. \nWebsite: vivianbphotography.com \nEmail: vivianbresnitz@gmail.com

SUMMARY:The Long Twilight - Paintings and Drawings Inspired by Iceland by Caren Hyde
DESCRIPTION:In her upcoming show at Easthampton’s Oxbow Gallery in November\, Florence-based artist Caren Hyde will exhibit more than 20 paintings and drawings inspired by Iceland’s wild\, rugged\, and dramatic landscapes that captivated her during recent travels to the country. “The Long Twilight\,” the title Hyde has given her first major exhibition at the gallery\, seeks to explore the mysterious quality of the light and mood that prevails during Iceland’s summer nights\, when the sky never fully darkens and a misty atmosphere takes over the land.

SUMMARY:Kathy Kemp / Reclaimed & Reimagined
DESCRIPTION:The Elusie Gallery / November 1 – 22\n\n\nArtist Statement \n“I love scavenging for “experienced” objects\, recognizing their shape and form\, rather than function or by the context by which I know they them. I appreciate the ordinary as well as the exotic or extravagant. The curve in a spindle\, the patina of chipped paint or oxidized metal\, the grain of weathered hardwood\, bobbins\, latches and all sorts of odds and ends inspire me to integrate a variety of materials\, textures and color. I create something new with old and discarded relics. Over time things weather and change and this can be beautiful and graceful when brought together. \nMy artistic journey revolves around the transformative power of reclamation and reinterpretation. With careful curation\, I breathe new life into these remnants\, crafting visual tales that resonate with both nostalgia and innovation. \nI aim to uncover the inherent beauty in the weathered and the imperfect\, offering a fresh perspective on what is often overlooked. Each piece is a testament to the potential of discarded relics becoming part of a greater whole and being cherished treasures once again. I invite viewers to reconsider their notions of value and aesthetics.”
