UNBUTTONED: AN EVENING OF SPOKEN WORD
Easthampton City Arts+ presents UNBUTTONED, An Evening of Spoken Word on Thursday, January 17 from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at Luthier's Co-Op, 108 Cottage St., Easthampton.
The evening will feature Unbuttoned creator Alison Murchie and five-minute open mic opportunities. This event is free and open to the public.
The evening will begin with open mic slots. Readers are invited to sign-up to read at 6:45 p.m.
Featured reader and Unbuttoned founder Alison Murchie began as a performance poet by winning the Bumbershoot Open, where she performed with beat poet Anne Waldman. She continued performing extensively all over the west coast, sharing a stage with Lydia Lunch, Jello Biafra and Excene Cervenka among others. She also helped produce multi-media performance events with spoken word components. She has been widely published in anthologies including "Ergo!", "The Six Faces of Eve", the Seattle Quarterly and online in Fictionique. She is working on a chapbook of poems based on figures from various mythologies.
UNBUTTONED, An Evening of Spoken Word is a new Easthampton spoken word series founded by Easthampton City Arts+ Committee member and writer Alison Murchie. The name UNBUTTONED refers to the Easthampton button mill history.
