Masks and Mothholes is a group art show at the MAP in Eastworks, 116 Pleasant Street, Room 137, Easthampton, exhibits from September 7 to 29. The exhibition, curated by artist Rob Kimmel, investigates art at the intersection of costume and character. An opening reception will be held on September 12, from 5-8PM in conjunction with Art Walk Easthampton.
Masks & Mothholes exhibits work by Sophie Argetsinger, Robin Barcus Slonina, Erica Harris, Gary Hallgren, Devon Kelley-Yurdin Rob Kimmel, Andrea Lauer, Tory Novikova, and Tal Shpantzer.
Kimmel says, "I challenged this diverse group of artists to come up with their own take on the story-telling power of what is WORN. This exhibit brings together artists working in media including photography, textiles, collage, sculpture, and painting. I'm fascinated by art that is narrative, theatrical, emotional. I am thrilled by the flowering of work that builds on the traditions of low brow, street art, "Pop Surrealism," comics and zines, and other hybrid forms and mongrel media."
Open to the public Tuesday - Saturday from 1-5PM.
